The Vile Village (2001) is the seventh novel in A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket.
In the novel, the Bauldelaire children are in pursuit of their captured friends, the Quagmire triplets, when they find themselves in a mysterious village covered in crows. The children believe that their friends are hiding in town and lean that finding them may not be that easy. The town has millions of rules with the penalty of being burned at the stake as a punishment for any rule being broken. The children run into an even greater problem when they are charged with murder. Could this be the end of the Bauldelaire Children?
