The Gargoyle is a novel by Andrew Davidson.
An unnamed narrator, a beautiful but totally heartless and cynical porn star, crashes his car while high on drugs and alcohol, sustaining horrific burns to most of his body. While he is recuperating in hospital, he is visited by Marianne Engel, who claims that they were lovers in a former life (700 years ago). As the narrator recovers, he spends more time with Marianne, who tells his stories about their life together all those centuries ago, and also tells him other great love stories.
Andrew Davidson is from Canada, and The Gargoyle is his first novel. There was a lot of buzz surrounding the acquisition of this novel, which sold for $1.25 million in the USA.
