'The Book Thief (ISBN 9780375842207) is a multiple award winning historical fiction novel aimed primarily at children and young adults by Australian author Markus Zusak. It was first published in Australia in 2005 and published worldwide in 2006. A film based on the novel was released in 2013.

Plot

The Book Thief is narrated by Death and is about a young girl in Nazi Germany who he feels a connection with. The novel describes Liesel Meminger's relationship with her foster parents, the other residents of their neighborhood, and a Jewish fist-fighter who hides in her home during World War II.
