Michael Vincente Gazzo was an American writer and actor. He was born in Hillside, New Jersey on April 5, 1923 and died in his hometown on February 14, 1995.

Gazzo began his career as a Broadway playwright. His most successful work was A Hatfull of Rain, a play about drug addiction, which ran for nearly four hundred performances between 1955 and 1956. The play was adapted into an Academy Award nominated movie in 1957.

In 1958, Gazzo served as co-screenwriter for the movie King Creole which starred Elvis Presley.

Later in life, Gazzo became a prolific movie and television actor. He played Frank Pentangeli in The Godfather Part II, a 1974 movie written by Mario Puzo as a sequel to his 1969 novel, a role for which Gazzo was nominated for an Academy Award.
