The Death of Vishnu (ISBN 0-06-000438-X) is a novel by Manil Suri about the spiritual journey of a dying man named Vishnu living on the landing of a Bombay apartment building. It also deals with the lives of the residents living in the building. The novel references mythology as it tells the tale of the odd-job man named Vishnu. Suri based the character on a man whom he had known in real life who died in 1994.
