Pacific Vortex! (ISBN 0-533-27632-8) is a novel written by Clive Cussler and published first in 1982. It is the story of character Dirk Pitt's first adventure. Though released a decade after the "second" book (Mediterranean Caper) in the Dirk Pitt adventures, this is the chronologically first book. Pitt investigates an area of the Pacific wherein dozens of vessels have been lost. The disappearance of the underwater vessel Starbuck gives Pitt the task of finding it and salvaging it.
