Michelle Tea.

Michelle Tea is an American author, poet, and literary arts organizer whose works explore queer culture and other topics like feminism, race, class, prostitution, and more. She is originally from Chelsea, Massachusetts and currently lives in San Francisco. Tea's books are mostly autobiographical works and she has written mostly memoirs.

In 2012, Tea partnered with City Lights Publishers to form the Sister Spit imprint and she was the co-founder of the Sister Spit spoken word tour.

Awards[]

  • Valencia won best Lesbian Fiction in 2000
  • Pills, Thrills, Chills and Heartache was a 2004 Lambda Literary Awards finalist in the Anthologies/Fiction category
  • Tea was awarded Jim Duggins Outstanding Mid-Career Novelists' Prize by the Saints and Sinners Literary Festival in 2008
