William McGuire Bryson, better known as Bill Bryson, (born December 8, 1951) is an American-born non-fiction author who has spent most of his adult life in the United Kingdom. Bryson's books include his impressions about life in Britain and the United States, observing both countries with something of an outsider's perspective, travel writing about visits to other countries and poular works about science, history and langauge. Humor is an important component of all of Bryson's works.
